The People's Friend

Star Letter

-

I look forward to “The People’s Friend” on a Wednesday. I enjoy the read and have worked some lovely cross-stitch pictures which I have framed and hung on my wall, as well as many others given to family and friends.

I am a retired nurse, having completed my training in 1955 in Falmouth & District Hospital, Cornwall. One of my matrons was Matron Weir, a lovely Scottish lady who looked after all her staff.

In 1959 my nursing career took me from Cornwall to Wales, where I met my husband and had three lovely sons. I retired after 46 years of nursing.

I enclose some photographs taken on my joint eightieth birthday party with my twin sister, Thelma, three years ago. We had a lunch for 64 family members at the Falmouth Hotel in Cornwall, and followed that lunch two days later with a cream tea for 40 of our friends. What wonderful memories.

Mrs G.H., Caerphilly.
