Work stint led to ideal job
A SPELL of work experience at city accountancy firm Rawlinsons set Leanne Smart on the right track for her chosen career.
Now, 11 years on, Leanne is celebrating becoming a fully-fledged accountant with the firm, having passed her final exams.
Leanne was a pupil at Orton Longueville School (now Nene Park Academy) in Peterborough, when she spent two weeks working at the firm’s Lincoln Road office.
Three years later, in 2004, post Alevels, she successfully applied to join the firm’s trainee scheme.
Since then, Leanne has combined working with studying through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Her latest exam pass marks the final step in the qualification process.
Rawlinsons’ training partner, Mark Jackson, said: “We are delighted that Leanne, having first come to us as part of her school’s work experience scheme, has now passed her final exams.
“Her excellent results are a reflection of the hard work and dedication she has displayed.”
Rawlinsons has recently launched this year’s scheme to find up to three post A-level trainees to start in September, and possibly follow in Leanne’s footsteps.
Leanne is not the only member of the Rawlinsons’ team celebrating exam success.
Nicola Holmes, Gemma Mason, Luke Quince, Charlotte Remon and Matt Holmes have also passed their most recent ICAEW papers.
