Support call for cycling challenge

-

CYCLISTS pedalling for the planet will arrive in Peterborough this week – and local residents are being urged to show them their support.

The Big Green Bike Ride is a cycling challenge organised by Friends of the Earth, with hundreds pedalling for the planet to raise money for the environment charity.

The event begins in London on Sunday, May 6 and ends 500 miles and six days later in Edinburgh.

Organisers are asking for people in Peterborough to support the cyclists when they arrive in the city, passing through Thorney Road at around noon on Monday, May 7.

Tracey Pritchard, head of fundraising at Friends of the Earth, said: “Participants are taking on a big physical challenge for Friends of the Earth raising funds for our vital campaigning, helping to keep the planet and the people on it safe and healthy. Please help keep them pedalling by showing your support on Monday.”
