Sup­port call for cy­cling chal­lenge

CY­CLISTS ped­alling for the planet will ar­rive in Peter­bor­ough this week – and lo­cal res­i­dents are be­ing urged to show them their sup­port.

The Big Green Bike Ride is a cy­cling chal­lenge or­gan­ised by Friends of the Earth, with hun­dreds ped­alling for the planet to raise money for the en­vi­ron­ment char­ity.

The event be­gins in London on Sun­day, May 6 and ends 500 miles and six days later in Ed­in­burgh.

Or­gan­is­ers are ask­ing for peo­ple in Peter­bor­ough to sup­port the cy­clists when they ar­rive in the city, pass­ing through Thor­ney Road at around noon on Mon­day, May 7.

Tracey Pritchard, head of fundrais­ing at Friends of the Earth, said: “Par­tic­i­pants are tak­ing on a big phys­i­cal chal­lenge for Friends of the Earth rais­ing funds for our vi­tal cam­paign­ing, help­ing to keep the planet and the peo­ple on it safe and healthy. Please help keep them ped­alling by show­ing your sup­port on Mon­day.”
