Rail station revamp is on track
RAIL bosses have announced an ongoing £3 million revamp of Peterborough station is on target to be completed by mid-june.
Work started last year with improvements to platforms four and five and the creation of a new waiting room on platform two.
Duncan Fraser, East Coast Station Manager at Peterborough Station, said: “The re-development is coming on nicely with key improvements underway, including enlarging the concourse and installation of automatic gates to improve security.
“There will be a small amount of disruption to customers using the car park but this will ultimately contribute towards an improved travelling and working environment.”
The project is funded by train operator East Coast, which manages the station, and Network Rail through the Government’s National Stations Improvement Programme (NSIP).
But once complete, Network Rail will begin a separate £43million upgrade to create extra platforms. It will deliver easier access with new lifts and longer platforms.
