Olympic theme for Stilton cheese rolling this weekend
THE annual Stilton cheese rolling fun day will be taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, and this year’s event has a special Olympic theme.
Competitors are being asked to come in Olympic fancy dress for the races, which will be hosted by British Paralympian Matt Skelhon, who lives in the village.
The event, which is in its 52nd year, will begin with music, magic and dancing from 10.30am in High Street, Stilton.
Then the serious business of the cheese rolling race begins at noon.
There are still a few places left and people should contact Carol by calling 07508502534 or visit www.stilton. org if they want to take part.
Carol said: “It is light-hearted but everybody is playing to win.
“The big thing to stress is that it is totally free and there will be a lot of fun things to do and see.
“As well as the cheese rolling we will have may pole dancing, the crowning of May king and queen, the Blue Vision twirling team performing, shows by Magic Dave and dancing by Pig Dyke Molly.”
