Police hunt after man attacked near club
A MAN suffered serious facial injuries and needed hospital treatment after an “unprovoked” assault involving two other men outside a city nightclub.
The 24-year-old victim was leaving The Solstice nightclub in Northminster at around 2.20am on Saturday when the attack happened.
A woman and two men were involved in the attack and police are keen to hear from any witnesses who saw what happened.
Detectives investigating the assault have released CCTV images of a man and a woman they wish to question in relation to the incident.
The assault happened after the victim left the nightclub following a night out in the city centre.
After leaving the club he was approached by a woman who engaged him in conversation for a short while.
A man came over and tried to search the victim’s pockets but then started punching him several times.
A second man then joined in the altercation when the victim tried to fight his original attacker off.
The victim was then attacked again by one of the offenders as he returned to the club.
Following the incident the offenders ran from the scene.
The victim was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by ambulance for treatment to facial injuries.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said that the victim suffered cuts and bruises to his face and is currently recovering from his ordeal at home.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the assault or who recognises the man or woman in the CCTV images to come forward and help with their enquiries.
Detective Constable Amanda Clarke said: “The victim suffered serious facial injuries as a result of this unprovoked attack.
“I would urge anyone who recognises the people pictured to contact us as soon as possible because we believe they may have vital information to assist our investigation.”
