PETERBOROUGH

United “Statto” Mick Robinson believes he has identified a mystery game we featured.

We thought this picture of a Posh crowd was snapped in 1961, but Mick says that it was five years earlier.

He said: “It was taken at Yeovil on November 17, 1956.

“It was the first round of the FA Cup and Posh won 3-1. Posh went on to beat Bradford Park Avenue at home 3-0, and Lincoln City away in a replay 5-4 after extra time to reach the fourth round for the first time, only to lose to second division Huddersfield Town 3-1. That game saw 10 special trains go from Peterborough.

“In that Huddersfield team was a 16year-old Denis Law making his eighth appearance for the Yorkshire side. He scored one of the goals, his first in a long FA Cup career.”
