Shop­pers will be urged to study

A NEW bid is to be made to en­cour­age adults in Peter­bor­ough to find a place at univer­sity.

Staff from the Open Univer­sity will be at Ser­pen­tine Green Shop­ping Cen­tre, in Hamp­ton, on Satur­day to tell shop­pers about the univer­sity and the cour­ses and ben­e­fits it of­fers.

A spokesman said: “The Open Univer­sity is of­fer­ing peo­ple who are think­ing of study­ing, the op­por­tu­nity to be in­spired by talk­ing to tu­tors di­rectly, in a re­laxed and in­for­mal en­vi­ron­ment and to ask any ques­tions they may have about study­ing with the OU.

“It will pro­vide an op­por­tu­nity to find out more about the more than 100 qual­i­fi­ca­tions that the OU of­fers, what is avail­able in the Peter­bor­ough area and how study can be fit­ted around work and fam­ily life.”

The event will run from 9am to 6pm and ap­point­ments are not nec­es­sary.

More than 4,000 peo­ple in the Peter­bor­ough area are al­ready study­ing with The Open Univer­sity with some study­ing to im­prove ca­reer op­tions, oth­ers to make up for lost ed­u­ca­tional op­por­tu­ni­ties and oth­ers sim­ply to stretch the mind. For de­tails visit www. open­n­
