With Malborne beating Stamford 6-1 in their final game, the PFA Cup winners knew they needed at least a draw against Powerleague to be sure of defending their league title.
And despite a slow start to the game, Hungate hit the heights in the second half as they produced one of their most devastating displays of the season.
Manager Lorraine Hodgson said: “We knew we had to get a result from the game and I know all the boys were really keyed up for this one. Powerleague are a good side but once we got a couple of goals ahead we just streamrollered them in the second half.
“It was a very impressive performance and a really good way to win the league and complete the PFA Cup and Division One double.
“The achievement is even more impressive when you consider that we have been hit really hard by injuries this season and have had to play a lot of games with just 10 men.
“There was a point in the season when we really thought we would not win anything but they have bounced back really well from losing the League Cup final. They hav been fantastic.”
Hungate’s double winning squad: Ashley Hicks, Matthew Holden, Scott Drewery, Mark Samways, Ben Schneider, Harry Baldry, Rio Chilvers, Ryan Harnwell, Sam Bedwell-byatt, Ben Garner, Kieran Higgs, Archie Murfitt, Adam Cousins.
