DEEPING Claret finished their Division One campaign on a high note by becoming only the second team this season to beat champions Netherton.

Cameron Guest netted for Netherton at Outgang Road but a double for Kieron Mcconnell and one for Luke Cutts saw Deeping secure a 3-1 win to pip Spalding for the runners-up spot.

WERRINGTON went into the final game of their Divisionthree campaign againstthorpe Wood Blue with promotion already assured.

But despite having already wrapped up the runners-up spot, Werrington were hungry for win number 14 and thanks to goals for Ashlee Baker, Adam Barker and Ryan Bointon they got it by beating Thorpe Wood 3-1.

HAMPTON Reds boss Mark Sansby has backed his side to complete the dream double season by beating Eye in their last match of the season.

So far the rampant Reds have won every game on their way to the Division One title and the Hunts Cup double and that streak continued when they beat Blackstones 5-0 thanks to goals from Bradley Catton (2), Roman Paterson, Morgan Pizzo and Jack Fryett.

They now have just one game remaining to post a perfect league campaign by snatching their 15th win from 15 games. However, standing in their way are Northants Cup and League Cup winners Eye, who many consider to be one of the few teams capable of living with high-flying Hampton.

But despite the quality of opposition Sansby is confident his team can maintain their phenomenal winning run at Lindisfarne Road on Sunday.

“We looked really good against Blackstones on Sunday who are in my opinion a better footballing side than Eye,” he said.

“I know Eye have just won 4-0 in the county cup final but we won 10-0 in ours and we won the league title so we will be going to their place confident of getting win number 15 on Sunday.”
