New Ark fun event to boost funds
A FUNDRAISING event is being organised in aid of the popular New Ark Adventure Playground in Peterborough.
Ally Hall (34), from Spalding, who used to enjoy going to New Ark as a child back in the 1980s, is spearheading the reunion event at the playground in Reeves Way on Saturday, May 12.
She was inspired to do her bit for the charity after seeing city entrepreneur Mike Greene donate £40,000 to New Ark on Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire last year.
She said: “Several of us who used to attend discussed the situation New Ark is in and felt compelled to give something back after having had some great formative years there.
“Mike Greene’s donation was absolutely fantastic but that money may not be enough to secure New Ark’s long-term future - the facility is 30 years old and needs updating.
“I’m really hoping the event will go some way to doing that.
“We don’t have a target – we just want to raise as much as we can, and anyone with a connection to New Ark is invited.”
The event, which will also be attended by Mr Greene, will run from 11am to 4pm and feature stalls, games, activities and displays of old photographs of New Ark.
There will also be a tombola and raffle with prizes including a week’s stay at a Florida villa. For more details call Ally Hall on 07595 497678.
