where it’s due... how many of us would relish the prospect of sitting down to do a GCSE exam with only two weeks preparation like our two intrepid ET journos?

John Baker and Matthew Reville are two of the ET’S finest and they produced very creditable passes given the fact that they had very little preparation.

However, what they also proved is that the exams are no pushover – just the opposite.

There is often much media comment about rising pass rates and questions about just how difficult exams really are.

We can confirm that the exams are a real test and they are far from easy.

Thousands of local youngsters are sitting down to do their exams at this time of year.

The majority have worked very hard in preparation and will work extremely hard over the next few weeks along with their teachers and support staff.

We can confirm the exams are not easy and all our students deserve everyone’s full support at this testing time.

And when they get their results they will have earned them and we’ll make sure they get the credit they deserve.
