MP invited into school to be questioned by pupils
YOUNGSTERS grilled their MP about his role, and what he has done to make a difference, in a question and answer session.
Year 4 pupils at the Duke of Bedford Primary School in Thorney have been studying the topic People Who Make a Difference. They invited Stewart Jackson, MP for Peterborough, into the school to discuss what he has done as a member of Parliament.
Jackii Crockett, headteacher, said: “The pupils had to think about people who have made a difference.
“They asked a policeman, the Mayor and Stewart Jackson to come in.
“They asked him what he had done since joining Parliament.
“They were very impressed, but I don’t think any of them want to become politicians at the moment.”
The class also studied figures in history including Marie Curie and Mothertheresa.
Mr Jackson also spoke to the Year 6 group while he was in the school.
The youngsters are also preparing for their Queen’s Jubilee celebration featuring a concert on Friday, June 1 followed by a picnic on the school field.
