Coombe produces a five-star performanc­e

ANTHONY Coombe was the outstandin­g performer for City of Peterborou­gh Swimming Club (COPS) at the West Suffolk Open.

The 14 year-old won five gold medals at Bury St Edmunds in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m and 200m breaststro­ke. Coombe didn’t finish outside the medals in any of his 11 events over the weekend, also winning four silver medals and two bronze.

A 23-strong travelling party from COPS won six other gold medals with Maddie Farley (12) and Georgia Speechley (14) winning two each.
