A MINI-HEAT­WAVE will see Peter­bor­ough bask­ing in sun­shine this week.

It will mark the end of a six-week spring washout which saw the city en­dure the wettest April on record.

Tem­per­a­tures are ex­pected to hit 21C to­day, with to­mor­row and Thurs­day reach­ing highs of 25C, ac­cord­ing to the Met Of­fice.

A spokesman for the Met Of­fice said: “It is turn­ing quite warm this week and things will re­ally start to heat up from Wed­nes­day on­wards.”

The sun­shine is ex­pected to con­tinue into the week­end, with tem­per­a­tures of 20C an­tic­i­pated.

The heat­wave comes af­ter parts of Bri­tain were colder than the Arc­tic and even parts of the Antarc­tic last week.
