AN UPDATED schedule to this summer’s Werrington Show can now be viewed by entrants on the event’s new website.

Details of the classes available for all ages and how to enter can be found at www.werringtonshow.org. uk.

Updates will also be posted on the show’s Facebook site and printed schedules will soon be available at community hubs.

The event, now in its 63rd year, returns to Werrington Village Centre, in Church Street, on Saturday, August 18.

Werrington Show Society members will be manning a stall at the Werrington Carnival on Saturday, June 30, to offer advice to would-be entrants.

Decorating the stall will be the new publicity banners bought with a grant from the South Werrington and North Gunthorpe ward councillors’ community leadership fund.

Organisers are hoping for a flood of entries from competitors old and new for the event, driven by a booming interest in home-grown skills such as allotment tending, baking and handicrafts.

The show classes, which include vegetables, fruit, flowers, flower arranging, cookery, preserves, home brewing, handicrafts and photography are open to anyone living in the PE4 postal area or who attends a Women’s Institute branch, flower club, school, playgroup or holds an allotment within the PE4 postcode.

Entry forms must be received no later than 8pm on the preceding Wednesday, August 15. Exhibits must be staged between 8.30am and 11.45am on show day. After the judging, the show will be open for public viewing between 3pm and 5.45pm.

Entrance fees are 50p for adults and 10p children. WORD UP: The pupils from The Voyager Academy set to take part in the regional final of the Shake the Dust competition. (METP-17-05-12RH2)
