AN UP­DATED sched­ule to this sum­mer’s Wer­ring­ton Show can now be viewed by en­trants on the event’s new web­site.

De­tails of the classes avail­able for all ages and how to en­ter can be found at www.wer­ring­ton­ uk.

Up­dates will also be posted on the show’s Face­book site and printed sched­ules will soon be avail­able at com­mu­nity hubs.

The event, now in its 63rd year, re­turns to Wer­ring­ton Vil­lage Cen­tre, in Church Street, on Satur­day, Au­gust 18.

Wer­ring­ton Show So­ci­ety mem­bers will be man­ning a stall at the Wer­ring­ton Car­ni­val on Satur­day, June 30, to of­fer ad­vice to would-be en­trants.

Dec­o­rat­ing the stall will be the new pub­lic­ity ban­ners bought with a grant from the South Wer­ring­ton and North Gun­thorpe ward coun­cil­lors’ com­mu­nity lead­er­ship fund.

Or­gan­is­ers are hop­ing for a flood of en­tries from com­peti­tors old and new for the event, driven by a boom­ing in­ter­est in home-grown skills such as al­lot­ment tend­ing, bak­ing and hand­i­crafts.

The show classes, which in­clude veg­eta­bles, fruit, flow­ers, flower ar­rang­ing, cook­ery, pre­serves, home brew­ing, hand­i­crafts and pho­tog­ra­phy are open to any­one liv­ing in the PE4 postal area or who at­tends a Women’s In­sti­tute branch, flower club, school, play­group or holds an al­lot­ment within the PE4 post­code.

En­try forms must be re­ceived no later than 8pm on the pre­ced­ing Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 15. Ex­hibits must be staged be­tween 8.30am and 11.45am on show day. Af­ter the judg­ing, the show will be open for public viewing be­tween 3pm and 5.45pm.
