Award for worker

-

A LEADING volunteer with a charity has won a national award in recognition of her work.

Pam Milne, who is a member of the Stamford branch of Epilepsy Action, will be presented with the Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award by the group’s chief executive, Philip Lee.

Julie Clark, Epilepsy Action’s manager for central England, said: “Pam is a dedicated member of the Stamford Branch and won the award for supporting the group’s fundraising and social events since 1997.

“Pam has been attending the branch since the first meeting in 1997, and has been treasurer since this time too.

“Pam’s son Stuart “was her shadow” at branch meetings and was also a valued member of the team.

“Stuart had epilepsy but tragically passed away very suddenly in 2009. Pam understandably finds it very difficult to go to branch meetings since, as he isn’t there. Despite this, she continues to be the branch’s treasurer and still keeps in touch with and supports other branch members. The branch say that Pam is a valued member and friend and they are so pleased that she carried on. She has overcome a lot during the past few years and she deserves to be recognised.”

Mrs Milne said: “I feel very honoured to receive this award and would lie to thank everyone involved. The meeting’s were part of Stuart’s life and he made many friends ”
