Sheep shearing event

-

THERE was sheer joy at a farming event for youngsters.

About 1,000 people visited Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre last week to learn about the skill of sheep shearing.

Chief shearer Ross Priddle demonstrated his art to crowds and some people even had a go.

Farm manager Mike Rooney said: “It went very well, it was one of our more successful events. We were very nervous about the weather because it’s difficult if the wool is wet.

“But we were blessed with dry conditions.”

The farm was shearing its herd of Lincoln longwool and the Jacob sheep.
