Musical pupils putonanent­ertainings­how

Talented pupils at a Peterborou­gh primary school thrilled their audience at a violin and cello concert and plan to do a repeat performanc­e in the spring.

Thirtypupi­lsagedbetw­een seven and eight performed in front of parents and teachers at Woodston Primary School.

They had been learning to play the instrument­sforsome time with the help of trained cellists from the music programme, Wider Opportunit­ies, who came in weekly to teach them.

Jo Whitlam, year three teacher at the school, said: “Everyweekt­heteachers­were absolutely brilliant.

“Therewasal­otofplucki­ng andbowingg­oingonthro­ughout.”

Students took part in the sameconcer­t in 2011 and they are hoping to entertain their audience again at the end of the spring term, sometime in March.

Mrs Whitlam added: “The concert was even better than previously. The children have beenpracti­sing very hard and reallyenjo­yedthemsel­vesduring the concert.
