Children aged from five to 11 had the chance to be a special agent for the day, learning such skills as gadget making and code breaking, while also taking part in observation and obstacle challenges.

It was one of a number of full- day sessions held at the centre last week, with others dedicated to dance, indoor football, crime scene investigation and sports such as dodgeball and fencing.

Sports Xtra director Sara Strid- Coughlan, who said the sessions had been a success, said: “They give kids the chance to do new things and learn some new skills and, of course, have fun - that’s the main thing.

“It also serves as child care for parents as it’s a full day of activities.”
