Video nasty is full of laughs
WHEN the best man thinks it’ll be a piece of cake to make the happy couple a video of their wedding as a gift, it turns into a madcap marriage disaster.
You couldn’t blame the uptight groom Tim ( Robert Webb) and his bride Saskia ( Lucy Punch) if they vowed to throttle Tim’s brother Raif ( Rufus Hound) for what ensues in this fly- on- the- wall comedy.
The tidings are bad from the moment randy Raif first claps eyes on the bride and discovers it’s sexy Saskia, and he’s had a crush on her since she was a sixth form siren, unlike today’s hoity- toity social climber.
But that’s not the worst of the skeletons rattling in the closet amidst wedding essentials like drunkenness, agro and insults.
It isn’t a great start for Tim’s ambition to join Cheshire’s snootiest set and impress his future mother- in law Alex( Harriet Walter) who makes Hyacinth Bucket appear shy by comparison.
Not to mention the bride’s grumpy grandma ( Miriam Mar- golyes) who’s soon looking down her nose in disapproval as everything goes haywire in this offbeat rom- com from the director of Calendar Girls.
