Decoy ace Andy comes in handy

-

After a very busy holiday period JVAC got back to their normal weekly fixture on Sunday and had enough anglers to use both Six Islands and the Elm Pool.

On Six Islands it was Barry Gilson leading the way. Hedrew peg six and took a net of carp on the pole with maggot and pellet putting 66lb 8oz to the scales. Next came Paul Irons with 64lb 8oz followed by Roger Gowler with 53lb 15oz.

On the Elm Pool Andy Gausden was a clear winner and he gets my ‘ Catch of the Week’ award.

Gausden took the honours with 66lb 11oz from peg eight fishing the long pole with soft pellet. He is undoubtedly one of the top exponents of pellet fishing at Decoy Lakes or in deed most methods these days.

Many of the top anglers still seek him out for advice as his knowledge of just about every peg on the complex is invaluable.

I do not mind admitting I have at times given him a call to get the run down on a peg or two.

Runner- up with 48lb 6oz was Roy Wells followed by Mick King on 46lb 6oz.
