Since he was last at London Road Scott Wootton has appeared in the Champions League. Andthe21year- olddefenderreturnedforasecondloanspellat Posh from Manchester United yesterday confidentthathecan use his big- game experience to help his new club avoid relegation from the Championship.

Coincidentally he will make thefirstappearanceofthisstint at NottinghamForest, a club he also represented on loan last season.

Wootton said: “I was disappointed not to play that many games when I was with Peterborough last season, but to have played in the Champions League is a dream come true.

“I never expected that to happen so quickly and it’s certainly given meamassiveboost.

“I was called into the manager’s officeyesterday morning to say Peterboroughwantedme to return and I was very happy to agree to the move.

“I knowmostoftheladsfrom last season andIknowthemanagementteamsoI’mconfidentI will settle in quickly again.

“Peterborough are playing a different system to when I was herelast seasonsoIexpectIwill be playing as one of three centre- backs.

“That’smymostcomfortable position.

“It’s ironic thatmyfirstgame back will be at Forest.

“About a weekafterI left Peterborough I joined Forest who were struggling at the time.

“I had a good time there though and they enjoyed a really good end to the season.

“I have the experience of that relegation battle and I’m sure that will help me now.

“I played in midfield for Peterborough at Forest last season and we all played very well on the day so a repeat of that performance would give us a chance.

“Peterborough have beaten some big clubs recently so they shouldn’t be worried about playing anyone.”

Wootton played 90 minutes for Manchester United in their Champions League defeat by Romanian side CFR Cluj earlier this season.
