David Haig was born in Septem­ber, 1955, in Hamp­shire. Af­ter school he spent a year on kib­butz in Is­rael, trained to lay drains in Hol­land, then signed up to study drama at LAMDA. He and his wife Jane have five chil­dren aged be­tween 13 and 27. He writes as much as he acts and his play about Rud­yard Ki­pling, MyBoy Jack, was made into a tele­vi­sion drama in which Haig starred along­side Daniel Rad­cliffe.
