POSH: Martin Wilkinson’s side started the New Year with a bang, beating Hereford 4- 0 at home and Blackpool 3- 0 a way. Micky Gynn scored twice against Hereford and was also on target against Blackpool. RUGBY: Baker Perkins hammered Oakham 45- 6 with tries scored by Richard Maryniak( 2), Phil Elmore ( 2), Phil Edwards, Norman Bell, Tony Shaw, Tony Edge and Phil McQuillen. HOCKEY: Saracens opened the New Year in style, beating Warboys5- 0 with Michelle Hall and Madeline Owen both netting twice. Sue Drake scored the fifth goal. FOOTBALL: Corridas remained on course to retain their Sunday Combinatio­n Division Onetitle by beating Freemans 6- 3. Neil Bird slammed a hat- trick. BILLIARDS: Peterborou­gh’s Mark Wildman beat Fred Davis 1500- 1032 in the UK Championsh­ip final. RUGBY: Borough made it 10 wins on the trot when winning 13- 0 at Old Northampto­nians. John Sismey and Justin Beaumont scored tries with Beaumont adding a conversion and penalty to pass the 100- point mark for the season. ICE HOCKEY: Peterborou­gh Pirates won 18- 5 at Streatham Bruins with John Lawless scoring seven of the goals, Glen Skid more five and Rob Carnegie three.
