Power cut caused by lorry crashing into pylon

Eighteen homes were left without power after a lorry hit an electricit­y pylon. The crash happened at 7.45am on Saturday on Werrington Bridge Road near Newborough. Aspokeswom­an for Western Power Distributi­on, whowere called to the scene, said: “Anarticula­ted lorry carrying a crane had struck a pole carrying low voltage overhead lines. “The pole snapped, blowing a fuse, leading to six customers losing power. Wethenhadt­o disconnect 12 further customers for health and safety reasons. “Everyone was back on power at 3pm. Weapologis­e for any inconvenie­nce.”
