Power cut caused by lorry crash­ing into py­lon

Eigh­teen homes were left with­out power af­ter a lorry hit an elec­tric­ity py­lon. The crash hap­pened at 7.45am on Satur­day on Wer­ring­ton Bridge Road near New­bor­ough. Aspokeswoman for West­ern Power Distri­bu­tion, whowere called to the scene, said: “Anar­tic­u­lated lorry car­ry­ing a crane had struck a pole car­ry­ing low volt­age over­head lines. “The pole snapped, blow­ing a fuse, lead­ing to six cus­tomers los­ing power. Wethen­hadto dis­con­nect 12 fur­ther cus­tomers for health and safety rea­sons. “Ev­ery­one was back on power at 3pm. Weapol­o­gise for any in­con­ve­nience.”
