Shire bliss for horse lovers as date for show looms large
spectators expected to come from all over the world.
David Ralley- Davies, secretary of the society, said: “Plans for the event are now in full swing and we are confident it is going to be the biggest and best show yet.
“The Spring Show is a fantastic day out for the whole family providing a great insight into this magnificent breed as well as raising awareness of the society’s work.”
The Shire Horse Society – which counts the Queen as its patron – is a registered charity that helps raise much needed funds to support the threat- ened breed.
The Spring Show will see more than 200 shires compete in what is regarded as the national championships.
The prestigious King George V Cup will be awarded to the most impressive stallion and a host of other trophies will be handed out over the weekend.
“The Spring Show really is the best display of Shire horses in the country and an opportunity for people to see the breed in all its glory,” added David.
“The main highlight of the show each year is the Shire horse Parade in the Grand Arena and is an unmissable sight for anyone attending.”
The three- day event will feature a host of demonstrations and competitions, vintage tractors and farm machinery displays and the heavy horses farriery competition.
