Have your say on city college plans for bigger art block

-

Residents are being urged to have their say on plans to extend the art block at a Peterborough college.

City College Peterborough, based in Brook Street, is planning on making the improvements to give students better facilities.

The expansion proposals include adding another storey to the single storey art block. The works would see the ground floor of the art block remodelled including the teaching ‘flat’ which comprises a bathroom, bedroom, living /dining room and kitchen.

The ground floor would also include a classroom, common room, art room, a sensory room, office, toilets and lift. The new first floor would accommodate six classrooms, two offices and toilets

Peterborough City Coun- cil secured a £662,500 grant from the Government last year towards the planned work.

Now residents are being invited to attend a consultation event at the college on Tuesday, between 4pm and 8pm. Representatives from the council and developers Kier will be on hand to answer any questions relating to the design and construction programme.

Councillor John Holdich, the council’s cabinet member for education, said: “The college continues to grow and develop and we are keen to support this.

“Securing the funding last year was crucial to this project and now, as is proper, we need to consult the public as part of the planning process.”

A planning application was submitted on March 21.
