Former nightclub manager stole £5,000 from safe
A former nightclub manager will be sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court after admitti ng s teal i ng thousands of pounds from the venue’s safe.
Phillip Campbell took the cash while he was manager at the Attica VIP nightclub on September 30 last year.
Campbell ( 3 8) was a rrested by police after it was noted the money was missing from the venue in Broadway, Peterborough.
The former manager had already pleaded guilty to one count of theft by employee when he appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court in February, but claimed he had only stolen £3,000 from the city centre club during his time as the general manager.
However, prosecutors claimed he had stolen nearly £10,000 from the club’s safe, and a hearing took place at the same court yesterday to decide on what basis Campbell will be sentenced.
After a number of discussions between the Crown Pros e c ut i o n Ser v i c e a nd Campbell’s defence team, a figure of £5,000 was agreed by the two sides.
At the previous hearing it was suggested Campbell would be sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court, where a judge would have greater sentencing powers than magistrates.
After accepting the submission that Campbell stole £5,000, magistrates at the court agreed that Campbell, of Isaacs Hill, Cleethorpes, South Humberside, will be sentenced at the city crown court at a later date.
