Hi-tech experts connect stately home up to the 21st century
City firm secures ‘significant’ contract to update IT systems at Burghley House
Hi-tech experts at a Peterborough company have begun a prestigious project to bring the historic Burghley House into the 21st century. Staff at the stately home in Stamford have suffered from slow broadband speeds, poor Wifi and slow transactions that have left them - and customers - frustrated.
Now Microbyte Solutions, of Commerce Road, Lynchwood, has been selected to modernise Burghley’s tele- communications and IT infrastructure.
Yusuf Yeganeh, managing director of Microbyte, said: “Wehavebegunthelongjourney to bring the 16th century country house into the 21st century.
“The existing system was disjointed.
“The new digital network will allow Burghley House to provide an increased level of customer service, vastly improved broadband facilities acrossthesiteandamuchbetter technology provision for the prestigious events such as the Burghley Horse Trials.
“We were kept on our toes with a variety of risk assess- ments, method statements and health and safety policies before being given the greenlight.
“The work will be carried out over the coming months with other IT projects being evaluated in the very near future. Theintendedinvestment in IT and the overall network infrastructure is significant.”
