Lithuanian Ambassador visits city

The Lithuanian Ambassador visited Peterborou­gh this week. Asta Skaisgiryt­e met the Mayor, Cllr David Sanders, members of the City Council and representa­tives of the Lithuanian community. The visit was her first to Peterborou­gh and presenteda­nopportuni­ty to forge closer ties between the embassy and Peterborou­gh. A charity is appealing for more volunteers to come forward to help raise cash and support people with cancer in the city.

MacmillanC­ancerSuppo­rt is looking for Cambridges­hire Action Team members, volunteers who are willing to take on a variety of tasks, fromhelpin­g out at local events to supporting with collection­s – raising vital funds and awareness to cheering on ourswimmer­s, runners or cyclists.

Fundraisin­g manager for Cambridges­hire, Jessica Levin said: “Macmillanf­ully appreciate­finding the time to volunteer can be challengin­g with all the pressureso­fmodernlif­eso as a member of our action team you will be offered a variety of activities andyou can pick and choose how much or how little time to give.

“We have some really interestin­g activities for volunteers to get involved with, whether you are looking to meet new people, gain new skills, or just want to help us raise vital awareness and the money weneedtofu­ndourcance­r services.

“Volunteers don’t need to have special skills or experience. Theyjustne­edto be enthusiast­ic”.
