Lithuanian Ambassador visits city
The Lithuanian Ambassador visited Peterborough this week. Asta Skaisgiryte met the Mayor, Cllr David Sanders, members of the City Council and representatives of the Lithuanian community. The visit was her first to Peterborough and presentedanopportunity to forge closer ties between the embassy and Peterborough. A charity is appealing for more volunteers to come forward to help raise cash and support people with cancer in the city.
MacmillanCancerSupport is looking for Cambridgeshire Action Team members, volunteers who are willing to take on a variety of tasks, fromhelping out at local events to supporting with collections – raising vital funds and awareness to cheering on ourswimmers, runners or cyclists.
Fundraising manager for Cambridgeshire, Jessica Levin said: “Macmillanfully appreciatefinding the time to volunteer can be challenging with all the pressuresofmodernlifeso as a member of our action team you will be offered a variety of activities andyou can pick and choose how much or how little time to give.
“We have some really interesting activities for volunteers to get involved with, whether you are looking to meet new people, gain new skills, or just want to help us raise vital awareness and the money weneedtofundourcancer services.
“Volunteers don’t need to have special skills or experience. Theyjustneedto be enthusiastic”.
