Software firm’s expertise helps educate pupils across Kenya
New deal is expected to help drive company’s growth
A computer software company has just secured a “significant” contract that will see its products boost education overseas. NetSupport, ofTowngateEast, Market Deeping, will have its classroom management software, called NetSupport School, pre-installed onmore than695,000educationdevices in Kenya.
It is part of Kenya’s digital literacy programme to give free technology to primary school pupils so they can be taughtthroughtheuseofcomputer-led learning.
Portuguese technology design company JP- IK is implementing the programme and has chosen the awardwinning NetSupport School software.
Al Kingsley, managing director of NetSupport, said: “Wearedelighted to beassisting JP-IK in helping schools in Kenya maximise the benefits of computer-led learning.
“Already we are receiving great feedback from the schools.”
By the end of the project next March, the software will have been installed in more than 13,500 classrooms, some 33,000 teachers will have been trained in its use and it will have helped more than 695,000 students.
Mr Kingsley said: “This deal is likely to be a key catalyst for expansion of our overseas channel program and supports extending our development team based in Peterborough.
“We currently employ approximately 110 but hope to see this grow.
He added: “Emerging markets are increasingly a target area for our business and we have been successful in a number over the last few years.”
