Software firm’s expertise helps educate pupils across Kenya

New deal is expected to help drive company’s growth

A computer software company has just secured a “significan­t” contract that will see its products boost education overseas. NetSupport, ofTowngate­East, Market Deeping, will have its classroom management software, called NetSupport School, pre-installed onmore than695,000educati­ondevices in Kenya.

It is part of Kenya’s digital literacy programme to give free technology to primary school pupils so they can be taughtthro­ughtheuseo­fcomputer-led learning.

Portuguese technology design company JP- IK is implementi­ng the programme and has chosen the awardwinni­ng NetSupport School software.

Al Kingsley, managing director of NetSupport, said: “Wearedelig­hted to beassistin­g JP-IK in helping schools in Kenya maximise the benefits of computer-led learning.

“Already we are receiving great feedback from the schools.”

By the end of the project next March, the software will have been installed in more than 13,500 classrooms, some 33,000 teachers will have been trained in its use and it will have helped more than 695,000 students.

Mr Kingsley said: “This deal is likely to be a key catalyst for expansion of our overseas channel program and supports extending our developmen­t team based in Peterborou­gh.

“We currently employ approximat­ely 110 but hope to see this grow.

He added: “Emerging markets are increasing­ly a target area for our business and we have been successful in a number over the last few years.”
