“Central government has said veryrecentlythatitwants to moveofficefunctionsoutof central LondonandPeterborough has been mentioned.” Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson has criticised a Conservative councillor for not helping to secure the regeneration of North Westgate. His comments came after Councillor Peter Hiller, cabinet member for growth, planning, housing and economic development, said: “I’m very pleased that the council won its legal challenge and that a number of people were proven wrong, including the MP.” Mr Jackson, who had criticised the planning committee’s decision last year to approve the Queensgate application, said: “I’m surprised that Cllr Hiller apparently disregards the major strategic objective of regenerating the North Westgate area in the heart of Peterborough, something that the City Council regrettably have done nothing to advance. What Cllr Hiller knows about planning law you could write on a postage stamp.”
