Wolfie sets a new British Pentathlon record of 11 wins

Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams is the undisputed king of the allrounders on the oche.

The three- times world BDOchampionfromDeeping recently captured an unprecedented 11th British Pentathlon crown.

He took the 2016 title at the 6 in 1 Club in Tonbridge to overtake John Lowe (10 wins) in the all-time list of winners.

Adams won with 436 points beating last year’s winner Jamie Hughes by four points on 432. Third place went to Belgian Andy Baetens with411pointsandfourthwas Lee Bryant on 370.

Adams, whoturned60last month, won his first British Pentathlon in 1994.

The ladies event was won by Trina Gulliver with 329 points. Runner-up was Deta Hedman(301pts) withAdams’ Cambridgeshire county colleague Claire Brookin(285pts) taking third spot. Fourth was Rhian Griffiths (280pts).

The British Pentathlon is an annual invitation event of 20 male and female players.

Games consist of playing each other at two legs of 501, one game of 1001, one game of 2001 (all straight start double finish), one game of Shanghai (numbers 1 to 9), round the board on doubles (42 darts max) and also one game of halve it.
