Bust-up at Barnack as game abandoned

-

A Division Two promotion battle between Barnack and Bharat Sports had to be abandoned after an argument between players on both sides. Barnack were nine runs short of victory when play was halted. Hafiz Majeed, a former first-class cricketer in Pakistan, broke the Spalding individual high-score record with an innings of 158 in a 128-run win over Long Sutton in the Premier Division. The previous record holder was opening batsman Pete Clarke who cracked 151 in a South Lincs League game in 1989. Spalding have moved clear at the top after nearest challengers Market Deeping seconds were beaten by two wickets at Stamford.
