Shaq attack seals comeback win
To be proclaimed the best striker in the current Posh squad isn’t saying alot, much like boastingofbeingthebest singer in the Spice Girls.
But Shaquile Coulthirst found his feet in some style at the ABAX last weekend as his two terrific goals earned Posh a morale-boosting win against Championship opposition.
Coulthirst can frustrate whenhispaceanddirectrunningleadstocul-de-sacsfrom which there is no escape.
But he can be as greedy as he likes if he pops in goals fromdistanceashedidinthe opening half of the secondhalftoturnalikelydefeatinto an unexpected win.
The goals capped a much improved Posh display and were a credit to new manager Grant McCann’s ability to motivate.
The Northern Irishman is a softly-spoken character, buthemadehisfeelingsclear after a sloppy first-half display led to Leeds opening the scoring in the 16th minute through Alex Mowatt and looking likely to take a bigger advantage into the interval.
But Posh ‘keeper Ben Alnwick performed strongly to keep Leeds at bay and enable McCann and Coulthirst to standthegameonitshead.
Paul Taylor may be too similar to Coulthirst for them to be the ideal longterm strike partnership, but it’s encouraging that both have found their way onto the scoresheet with finishes of some quality.
