Drug ACCusED in thE DoCk

A number of people have appeared in court charged with drug offences after a series of raids across the city. The raids t ook place on Wednesday last week, with 10 people being arrested by police.

Searches took place i n Bishops Road, Star Road, Padholme Road, Gransley Rise, Lombardy Drive, Newark Avenue, Heyford Close, Havelock Drive and Coronation Avenue, as well as at a garage in Fengate and at City Motors in New Road.

Afurtherra­idtookplac­eon Friday in Tirrington, Bretton, wherecasha­nddrugswer­erecovered, but no arrests were made.

On Thursday Michael Flash,(34), ofLombardy­Drive, Kevin Overall, (46), of GransleyRi­se, ImranQures­hi,(29) of Bishops Road, Darren Chambers, (45), of Heyford Close, and Stephen Marriott, (39), of Thorolds Way, Castor all appeared at Cambridge Magistrate­s’ Court charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

They were remanded in custodytoa­ppearatPet­erboroughC­rownCourto­nSeptember 19.

Ijlaal Saeed, (25), of Newark Avenue and Avlvis Sturmanis, (34), of Star Road were also charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs, and were given bail.

Vickram Virdee, (28), of Tirrington was charged with possession with intent to supply aClassAdru­g, whileAbdul Khan, (35), of Rokesby Place, Wembley, was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. They were remanded to appear at Peterborou­ghCrownCou­rtonSeptem­ber 19.

Three people arrested on conspiracy to supply controlled Class A drugs have also been bailed.

A35-year-old womananda 59-year-old have been bailed until September 30, and a 30-year- old man has been bailed until November 1.
