Memories of train derailment

I was interested to see the pictures of the train derailment outside Baker Perkins (Looking Back, Peterborough Telegraph August 11).

I am one of their retired employees and thought you might like to know that we learned later that one of our well known train enthusiasts waslookingoutofawindowto see this train come through.

As it emerged under the bridge, he could see what was happening and alerted Sister Moules in our surgery, who in turn notified the ambulance menandourfirebrigadewere also on standby.

All were ready andwaiting as soon as it derailed.
