Mees just misses out on In­ter-Coun­ties ti­tle

A tal­ented group of young­sters from Nene Val­ley Har­ri­ers and Peter­bor­ough AC did Cam­bridgeshire proud in the South of Eng­land In­ter- Coun­ties Cham­pi­onship in Ox­ford on Sun­day( writes Barry Warne).

Daniel Me es of Peter­bor­ough AC was the star of the day when tak­ing the runners-up spot in the Un­der 201500 min a com­pet­i­tive 4:09.70. Me es and the eventu al win­ner Stephen Ferro ni of Sus­sex werewell ahead of the field, but Fer­roni came out on top by less than half a sec­ond.

Isaac Huskisson was the pick of the Nene Val­ley bunch fin­ish­ing fourth in the Un­der 20 ham­mer, while 17 year-old club­mate Oliver Bowl­ing fin­ished eighth in a close fought 800m.

For the Un­der 15s, Peter­bor­ough’s Sa­man­tha Muchina qual­i­fied well for the 100m and 200m fi­nals, in which she com­pleted well in strong fields.

Am­ber Park just missed out on the 1500m fi­nal when fin­ish­ing fifth in her heat while Ge­orgie Ives Lap­pin was fifth in her 75m hur­dles heat.

The best lo­cal per­former for the Un­der 15 girls was Elysia Con­stanzo with fifth place in the pole vault.

Peter­bor­ough AC all­rounder Har­riet Fen­ton had a good week­end fin­ish­ing 13 th out of 39 com­peti­tors in the Eng­land Ath­let­ics Un­der 15 Com­bined Events Cham­pi­onship.
