At Thomas Deacon Academy, 52 per cent of pupils achieved A *- C in both English and maths.

Pupils who attained the highest grades include Devesh Erda, with eight A*s, three As and one B, and Annie Cavanagh, who achieved nine A*s and three As.

Geoff Walls, principal, said: “We are very pleased that 52 per cent of students achieved A*-C in both English and maths as this represents a three per cent increase on last year’s attainment headline figure.

“Students and staff at TDA have worked very hard to achieve such encouraging outcomes and should feel proud that their efforts have been rewarded.”
