Grim up north

I’m always suspicious of surveys even though they often provide good fodder for newspaper columnists

The latest “research’’ suggests people looking to find their fortune should think about moving to Peterborough, as it has been revealed to be one of the best places in the country to make a living.

Peterborough came 10th but when I saw the places that beat it I was a little underwhelmed. They were 1) Burnley 2) Wigan 3) Barnsley 4) Mansfield 5) Blackburn 6) Telford 7) Aberdeen 8) Derby 9) Sunderland. I have a mate who comes from Burnley and last time I was there I don’t remember seeing too many chrome plated super cars razzing around Stoops Estate.
