Show­case for cov­ers bands

The Met Lounge con­tin­ues its cru­sade to keep­pro­vid­ing live mu­sic in the cen­tre of Peter­bor­ough with the launch of a new night aimed solely for new and emerg­ing ‘cov­ers’ bands. Start­ing on Septem­ber 8 at 8.30pm the venue will be try­ing to create a ‘pub’ style en­vi­ron­ment for bands to play their favourite cov­ers to hope­fully newan­den­thu­si­as­ti­cau­di­ence. Kick­ing off the se­ries will be Peter­bor­ough’s Clarks­dale Con­tract – a blues band formed out of mem­bers of Peter­bor­ough groups ‘Lizzy On The Loose’ and ‘The Tun­nel’. Fu­elled by a pas­sion for blues mu­sic in all its forms and a de­sire to bring to­gether dif­fer­ent ele­ments of other gen­res of mu­sic, Clarks­dale Con­tract en­ter­tain au­di­ences both young an­dold with some classic tracks writ­ten by artists such as Muddy Wa­ters & Howl­ing Wolf, through to Ste­vie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clap­ton. Doors will open at 8.30pm with the band on stage at 9pm for the first set, sec­ond set start­ing around 9.45pm. En­try will be free and there’ll be deals on the bar all night.
