Last month Peterborou­gh secondary schools, si xth forms and teenagers were all celebratin­g as GCSEandAle­vel results were released.

Peterborou­gh students achieved some of the city’s best ever GCSE results with more children than ever before achieving A* to C in English.

In total 69.7 per cent of students achieved A* to C in English - up from 64 per cent in 2015. There was also a rise in the number of A* to C maths grades, with 61.2 per cent of students achieving at this level, compared to 60 per cent last year.

At A level, Peterborou­gh’s pupils remained above the national average for passes, but there was a dip in percentage of results graded A* to B. Across Peterborou­gh, the overall pass rate climbed 0.1 per cent to 98.3,with the national average pass rate remaining at 98.1per cent.
