Danny Drinkwater has to be in this England midfield. He always looks to play forward, can get up and down and he isn’t Jordan Henderson. And as neat and tidy as Adam Lallana is, there is more chance of Raheem Sterling scoring and that sentence is why Lallana shouldn’t start.

@philadlam Wayne Rooney’s ‘fall’ to try and win a penalty and his late argument with the referee were embarrassing. It’s not the behaviour I want from the England captain.

@LeighCurtis_NP England’s tempo was too slow, and Rooney was too deep, Big Sam has got to make a big call on Rooney. @kevincook77 England’s display was predictable and ponderous. What’s changed? Nothing! What’s likely to change? Nothing!

@TobyWoody Allardyce is clueless and already making excuses for Rooney. When will we get someone with balls to make the big calls?

@Jimmy_Dean666 England were not good, but a win is a win. Raheem Sterling looked bright at times, but end product still missing as usual.

@joshgreeney98 Rooney wasn’t bad, Lallana was lucky, Stones is progressing and Allardyce’s style of play needs improvement.
