Men are better than women

-

I watched two live tennis matches at the US Open on Sunday. First I viewed in horror at the sheer incompetence, lack of class, quality and consistency of the play in the Johanna Konta v Anastasija Sevastova match. There were 11 breaks of serve in two sets and about the same number of decent rallies. Later I sat enthralled as Rafa Nadal was knocked out by Frenchman Lucas Pouille (above) in five sets spread over four hours of action-packed, high quality drama. Konte is world number 13, Pouille is ranked 25th. The difference in technical ability and in the ability to entertain is vast. And still there are people out there who believe it’s right that the women receive equal prize money. It’s not, it’s one of sport’s biggest injustices.
