Moncur: ‘If I keep playing, I will keep scoring’

-

George Moncur’s two goals on his full debut was the Posh highlight from the disappointing 2-2 draw with Port Val eat the ABAX Stadium.

Moncur, who is on loan at Posh from Championship side Barnsley until January, said: “I’m delighted to score two goals, but I’m disappointed with the draw.

“I try and get shots off in every game and I’m sure if I keep playing I’ll get more goals, but more importantly we need to get some wins.

“Attacking-wise, we will cause any team problems. I think we are really solid at the back, but it’s just about game management towards the end.

“Once we get that I don’t think they’ll be any stopping us. When we scored the second goal we panicked a bit and everyone was all over the place.

“It’s something for all of us to workon. It’s just not just the defence.

“We all need to be better at looking after the ball.”

Right-back Michael Smith, who became a father in the week leading up to the match pointed out Posh would have been top of the table, but for conceding late goals in the last two home matches.

Smith said: “We have to work on seeing games out better,

“We will always score goals, but clearly we have to be better at stopping opponents scoring as well.

“Without those two late goals in the last two home matches we would have been top of the table right now so it shows how close we are to being successful.

“We are playing good football, the mood in the camp is brilliant and we can’t wait for the next match to come along.”
