ELTON JOHN
TO PLAY CITY CONCERT
Pop royalty will be playing Upon This ( Crocodile) Rock when Elton John brings his huge tour to the home of Peterborough United.
Elton will be playing at the ABAX stadium on Sunday, June 11, 2017 as part of his world tour.
The announcement that the record breaking musical icon is coming to the city follows shortly after another pop superstar, Bryan Adams, played a gig on the Embank- ment in Peterborough.
Alex Harris Commercial Manager for Peterborough United Football club said: “We are delighted to welcome one of the most highly acclaimed and successful solo artists of all time to the city of Peterborough.
“Elton John has achieved 38 gold and 27 platinum or multi-platinum albums, has sold more than 250 million records worldwide, and holds the record for the biggest selling single of all time.
“Over the five decades since his career began in 1969, Elton has played nearly 4,000 concerts in over 80 countries and we are thrilled that he will be the first artist to entertain fans at the ABAX Stadium in June 2017. We are looking forward to what promises to be a night to remember.”
The news was welcomed by leader of Peterborough City Council John Holdich, who in this week’s column for the Peterborough Telegraph said: “We proved what a great venue the city can be hosting the likes of Bryan Adams this summer and obviously word is starting to get out. Attracting someone the calibre of Elton John is a major coup and will hopefully lead to more big name acts performing in Peterborough.”
The Wonderful Crazy Night tour is named after Elton’s latest album, andwill see him perform songs from the album, as well as some of his biggest hits from his five decades in show business.
Elton had previously been set to play a gig in Peterborough in 2005, but the show was cancelled.
Tickets will goon sale from 10am Friday (September 23). They will cost £40, £60 and £80, andwill be available from a number of sources, including www.ticketmaster.com.
