Po­lice ap­peal to trace two men and a Re­nault car

Po­lice have re­leased CCTV images of two men they want to trace after a woman was raped in Peter­bor­ough. The vic­tim, a woman in her 40s, was raped in the Oundle Road­are­abe­tween3.15amand 4.30am on July 23 fol­low­ing a night out.

De­tec­tives in­ves­ti­gat­ing the­at­tack­havealso re­leased CCTV of a ve­hi­cle, be­lieved to be a sil­ver or grey Re­nault Me­gane 2 es­tate pro­duced be­tween 2003 and 2009. Of­fi­cers say the driver of the ve­hi­cle may have vi­tal in­for­ma­tion to as­sist the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

The images show the men and the car po­lice want to trace in the Wood­ston area of the city.

De­tec­tive Sergeant Vikki God­dard said: “We’re urg­ing the driver of the ve­hi­cle and the two men in the CCTV images to con­tact us. We also ap­peal to any­one who recog­nises them or who saw them that night to get in touch. No de­tail is in­signif­i­cant and you may have vi­tal in­for­ma­tion to help the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

“We hope that the CCTV images and of­fi­cers on pa­trol in the area may help to jog some­one’s mem­ory about some­thingth­ey­sawthat­could help us to catch the of­fender.”

Along with re­leas­ing the CCTV footage, po­lice of­fi­cers were also hand­ing out leaflets fea­tur­ing the images in­Bridge Street and onOundleRoadon Mon­dayandTues­day of this week. DS God­dard said they had been given new in­for­ma­tion as a re­sult of the street pa­trols this week.
