Thousands enjoy pop-up shop

-

Thousands of people visited a pop-up literacy shop this summer which aimed to boost literacy levels in the city. The space in Bridge Street was the result of a partnership between the National Literacy Trust Hub in Peterborough, City College Peterborough, Peterborough City Council and other local organisations. More than 2,840 children, parents and carers got involved with over 5,000 books handed over to families after they immersed themselves in storytelling and arts and crafts. Mother of four Robina Rashad, pictured with Ibrahim (six), Subhan (nine), Hadiya (12) and Hafsa (11), said: “We have really enjoyed visiting this fun space every week which has allowed us to spend quality time together sharing stories and taking part in the great selection of activities.”
