X Factor star Joe has a date in Stamford

Following Joe McElderry’s UK tour as Joseph in Bill Kenwright’s production of Joseph andTheAmaz­ingTechnic­olor Dreamcoat (which came to the Broadway in Peterborou­gh last year) Joe is back on the road with a brand new show which hits the Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre next month. When a boy becomes stranded at sea, he is rescued by a mysterious old man who claims to be none other than the great King Arthur Pendragon.

Through the old king’s magical storytelli­ng, the boy and the audience are trans- ported back to the heady days of Camelot, the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin and his faithful hound, Bercelet, the Lady of the Lake, and the sword in the stone.

Legendary adventures of brave chivalry andbattles, the search for the Holy Grail and the great betrayal of Lance- lot and Guinevere are all part of this exciting new family theatre production from the award-winning Story Pocket Theatre.

The show comes direct to Peterborou­gh after a hugely successful premiereat­theEdinbur­ghFestival Fringe where it won rave reviews from crit- ics and audiences.

Best known as Regis Lucis Caelum in the hugely popular movie Kingsglaiv­e: Final Fantasy XVandasaDe­athEaterin Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, StoryPocke­tTheatre is thrilled that Jon Campling will star as Merlin and King Arthur.

He is joined on stage by Thomas Gilbey ( most recently seen as the head of the legendary Joey puppet in War Horse) as young Arthur, and Sarine Sofair (Game of Thrones) as Guinevere and the Lady of the Lake.

Nigel Munson, Otis Waby, MackenzieS­cottandLuk­ePitman complete the cast.

This f ast- moving f amily production is the first of Michael Morpurgo’s novels to be adapted by Story Pocket Theatre.

Themasters­toryteller and author of War Horse has been Story Pocket Theatre’s Patron since the company formed in 2013 and gave special permission to bring his novel to life on stage.
